Turbo Pinto MK2 Escort

Hi guys, this topic is a follow on from my previous "Aussie MK1 Escort"
I sold the MK1 about a year ago to fund this MK2 project. As you can see the build has come a long way. The plan is to have it on the road by the end of the year. It will be running on E85, aiming for an easy 300+hp

GRP4 injection tank
Radtec MK1/MK2 Escort YB radiator intercooler kit
Haltech PS1000
Seimens Deka 630cc injectors (prob need to go bigger now with E85)
Nissan R31 Skyline rear axle
Toyota Supra W58 gearbox
Custom Jim Berry race clutch (2800lb)
RS struts, JBW minilites etc

The engine is almost finished. Standard bore Pinto block, YB rods & pistons, 1600 Pinto head ported, big valves, custom turbo grind camshaft. 9:1CR so it will perform like a well tuned NA motor but with a turbo The Disco Potato will give good top end power all the way to 7000rpm

The car has been getting plenty of use and lots of compliments. Very happy with it.  There were a few issues to sort out after some road testing. Oil pressure was low at idle due to the YB under piston oil spray bar. When coupled with the camshaft spray bar, the standard pump cannot supply enough pressure at low rpm. It's not an issue with YB's because the YB head is a lot less oil hungry than the pinto. So we deleted the under piston oil spray bar and installed a Burtonpower high volume oil pump. Idle pressure went from 8psi to 40psi. Also some small changes to the exhaust system with a bracket off the bellhousing to brace the dump pipe and a flexi join after it. I also ran a 1/4mile on Friday night and was disappointed with 13.3 but it was at 111mph so it has an easy 12 in it. Just got to get out of the hole a bit faster and will also gear the car slightly higher with bigger tyres

The car is in the 12's now with a change of rolling diameter. I went from a 185/60/13 tyre to 205/60/13 and gained 4 tenths of a second. PB is 12.7 @ 113.88mph. I'll be changing the diff gears from 3.89 to 3.45 so it will be similar gearing with my minilites & 185 tyres. Some changes in the engine bay with black rocker cover and black silicone hoses. I also changed the top radiator hose from rubber to Samco Classic silicone. The original rubber hose bloated up from the hot coolant coming out of the turbo.
