Latvian pinto turbo

Hy, Im form Latvia.
Me and my friend saw your turbo sierras long ago, but this summer we decided we needed one too
So we found the donor car (2.0 is sierra) and started the project. The goal was to buy and build the car for about 400$, but we ended up spending more like 600$.

Current setup:
Turbo form Nissan s13 (Garrett t25), boost 0,7 bar
Intercooler from Saab 9000 2.0 turbo
350cc injectors form Saab.
Running on 98 octane fuel






Now the engine is running, but we are having some problems with it. You can hear it in the video (the car drives terrible when off boost). Could it be the fuel mixture being too rich?

Also one more question: can I run on E85 with stock engine and fuel system or do I need to modify something.

Yes it´s running to rich. Try change to a bigger airmeter or just modifera the one you got with a harder spring so it´s wont open så easy

Thanks for the advice, did it today.
One more question does it matter that the stock injectors were 16 ohm, but the new Saab injectors are only 12 ohm?
Can I run on E85 without modifying anything?

No it don´t matter with that differance.

E85 demands 30-40% more fuel and i suspect you injectors will be a bit small

During this winter I have managed to do some upgrades:

I have bought, rebored, redecked and honed an Pinto 185 block (overbored to 90.0 mm)


Bought more durable pistons from Saab 9000 2.3 Turbo (they do fit on stock Pinto cranks)


Got my crankshaft grinded to 0,25mm


Bough all of the necesarry seals for the engine.

The next step is to assamble the engine and order my Megasquirt.
