| Greetings From South Africa , Im Shaun - I have a ford sierra 3.0L v6 I would Like to break the Roads with. Versions sold in South Africa were available with the 1.6 (Kent) and 2.0 (Pinto) four-cylinders, 2.3 V6 (Cologne) or 3.0-litre V6 (Essex) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Sierra (South Africa) 1 - I would like to know what Turbo to buy and what size Turbo would work best on the car? Single or Twin Turbo ? 2 - What modifications can be done Inside the Motor before the Turbo is installed ? 3 - What kind of Fuel Management do I select ? 4 - Do I Upgrade My Gearbox ? If so To What ? Here are some Pics of My Lady: Thanks

| Hi There Mathias, Thanks for the Reply, much appreciated, Yes it is Carb, I Purchased a 2.0L Ford Sapphire Fuel Injection System (EFI) as research shows Turbo's works Better With Fuel Injection. This is my first time working on a car project like this. Pic's are fixed as requested | |

What motor you are going to use, depends that... 3.0 Essex is hard to modify, you cant really make better flywheel because of balance and type. Also piston are quite heavy and burning space is in piston. 2. Single turbo is easier and cheaper. Also you need to know what bhb and rpm you are aiming for. | |

| Hi There, I plan to use the 3.0L V6 Sierra Motor Research shows, lighter rods / Low Compression Pistons / Racing Cam / ARP Bolts increases Performance If you take a look at this youtube video it will show internal mods I do no understand, that's why im seeking guidance with Skogenracing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrmh-yqSyG8I know the video is Twin Turbo But I plan to go Single as advised. My Question is - Is there anything else I can modify within the Motor to Increase Performance within the motor? Also - What make and Model Turbo would you recommend ? I'm Aiming for about 380-400BHP. Thanks | |

| If you get RS500 Cosworth sierra T03/T04 garret (in races 550bhb with 2.2bar)(7500rpm max power). It should give you about 400 bhb with 1.5 bar at 5000-5500 rpm.
But that turbo is quite expensive and rare, new turbos are cheaper so I would suggest to find one about same size as that. I think Holset HX serie is cheaper and easier to get. Possible Holset type is HX30 - HX40.
I had little bit modified 3.0 Essex 20 years ago and I noticed that crankshaft is quite weak also. You should also improve oil pressure and that oil pump axle is weak (not sure if its right name is axle, rod that spins oil pump) I managed to break 2 of em because of cold weather here in Finland (I had right oil type).

| A general renorvation of the engine is a good start, get your hands on ARP bolts and you're in the safe zone. Upgrading the clutch should be enough . U can always port the heads for quicker response from the engine. As for Fuel/engine management, Megasquirt has always worked good for us and is cheap compared to others. A holset HX40 is good for 400bhp so thats a good choice. Check out Burtonpower.com if you havent, they probably got some stuff for that engine. Good luck | |
