Capri Nissan Turbo

Hi guys, my name is Nick from the UK. Huge fan of your cars. Love your youtube videos. Its given me some inspiration (like anyone else who has seen them) to build something mental.

I wanted to keep the cost low, but have plenty of scope for further tuning. So decided on the Nissan route for something a little different.




Since thes pics Ive fitted a panhard rod and tramp bars.


Also had a bias pedal box made


welded in a Mk2 Escort tank shelf and bracing


The slam panel latch was no longer needed so decided to make something a little different.


Radiator and intercooler mounted.


Roll cage fitted


The last few weeks Ive been rebuilding the engine, to a standard spec for now (tuning will no doubt come later.


Also a few more goodies have landed. seats harnesses & hydro handbrake for the rear twin caliper setup.

Got the timing cover bolted on today. Now to move onto the inlet.

Nice project, but stop with the hippie colors!

3 colors maximum on the same engine or else it will be cluttered.

haha, a while before it goes in so the pulleys may be changes for silver. Plenty of time, I can look for a black oil filter if that helps

The other bits of blue is just tape over the inlet holes to stop dirt getting in.

Well i guess it will be a nice project, i do actually have a capri 2.3 ohc turbo ... and i bought a nissan s 13 with ca 18 det ... i think that it will be a nice combo what you are doing

what kind of gearbox are you going to use ... cause for the nissan gearbox you have to cut a bit from the tunnel

The Nissan gearbox has already been mounted with a custom prop, as you say I had to remove some material around the gearstick, but it fits very well other wise. Thanks for the comments

well my 2.3 ohc turbo came with auto gearbox ... so i mated it with mt 75 ... but it didn't fit in capri and i had to chop off a bit of tunnel ... and how did you fit the drive shaft ? what kind of rear axle are you going to use ? my advice is not to use that one from capri ... i bought for mine rear axle from M5 ... but it^s too heavy... then i decidet to copy the scogenracing way of it and i bought a vovlo rear axle, and next month i'll be home for cristmass ... and will mount it
i think Mikael have to give some info bout this problem with rear axles ,
mikael can you show us some Pics how did you mount it ?
Mikael in my eyes is the capri guru ... and i think this is the fastest Capri in europe at all

I had a propshaft made to mate the nissan geabox to the atlas axle. Will go with an LSD of somesort when Im in the finishing stages I shall sort one out.
